Family Pleads for Answers in I-75 Murder
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. - One day after the brutal murder of a Bartow County father, his family asked that anyone with information in the case contact investigators.
Herbert Perkinson died Sunday after he was kidnapped from his home, shot and left to die on the side of I-75.
"We need to heal and this is not something that we want to be talking about a month from now, a week from now," explained Gary McCoy, Perkinson's brother. "So, if you got something, please come forward."
McCoy described his brother as a strong family man who loved his children and his dogs. Perkinson, who was known by his nickname, "Buster," was known to joke around with everyone.
"If you wanted to laugh, no matter what type of mood you was in, you would go to Buster. And then, even if you didn't want to laugh, you would go to Buster, but he was just the type of person that [brought] out laughter in everyone," McCoy shared.
Perkinson had gotten into trouble in the past, family members said, but had cleaned up his life.
"I don't sugarcoat. We all have a fault--flaws--and have a past, but he had got himself together and his future was looking bright," said McCoy. "It was just senseless. It was a senseless, horrible crime to take that away and to take someone we loved so dearly away from us."
Anyone with information on the crime can call the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at 404-244-2600.
