Wells' body arrived at Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport shortly before 1:00 p.m. It is being taken by motorcade to his native Cobb County in a touching procession.

The city of Marietta closed off portions of the Canton Road connector over Interstate 75 so people could honor the slain Marine.

Kennesaw asked folks to line US-41 from the BB&T Bank to the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.

Both cities asked people to bring American flags and to make sure they planned for the weather.

Funeral arrangements for the Sprayberry High School graduate were announced Wednesday afternoon.

The funeral will be held this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock located at 11905 Georgia Highway 92. A procession will immediately follow the service to the Georgia National Cemetery located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive in Canton, where Wells will be laid to rest.

Public visitation will be held Friday and Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home located at 2950 Cobb Parkway NW in Kennesaw.

Wells was killed during last week's shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Four other service members were also killed in the attack.

Tuesday night, the Sprayberry High School family came together to honor Lance Corporal Skip Wells during a memorial service. A spokesperson for the family said they were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community at the memorial.

A scholarship is also being set up to honor the fallen Marine.
