DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - The woman who was shot by another driver following a road rage incident spoke exclusively to FOX 5 News on Thursday.
Angelina Christiano continues to recover at Atlanta Medical Center after being shot by another driver Monday on Highway 78 in DeKalb County.
"I thought I was going to die," said Christiano over the phone from her hospital bed at Atlanta Medical Center,” Christiano told FOX 5's Nathalie Pozo.
Christiano said a car that police describe as a newer model black Ford Mustang approached her yellow Corvette on Highway 78 at a high rate of speed. She said she motioned to him to go around her.
"He cut me off," said Christiano. "They just went on, went on with higher rate speed.”
Christiano's 25-year-old son was also in the car, he said he also signaled to the driver of the Mustang to go around them.
"When he got in the left back lane of my vehicle that's when he started shooting," said Christiano.
DeKalb County Police said the man in the newer model black Mustang shot several rounds at the Corvette as he exited off onto Mountain Industrial Boulevard. One of those bullets hit Christiano in the area of her upper back/lower neck. DeKalb County Police said they are making progress in the case.
