Ex-Clayton County officer indicted on battery charge

JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - A former metro Atlanta police officer who was recorded roughing up a homeowner while he was responding to a burglary call has been indicted by a grand jury.

Clayton County District Attorney Tracy Lawson said former Clayton County Police officer Ryan Hall was indicted on a battery charge Wednesday.

Authorities have said Dhoruba Bin-Wahad had recently moved into a house and a neighbor mistook him for a burglar. Police initially said the man was hurt during a struggle, but video that was released of the incident showed him being pulled from the front porch and forced to the ground.

Hall was fired after the video was publicly released. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
