Entertainment expo to be held this weekend in Atlanta
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - People looking to break into or grow within the Atlanta-area entertainment industry will get their chance this weekend.
The DeKalb Entertainment Commission will hold its second annual Entertainment Expo Saturday. Professionals in film, music and digital arts will provide workshops, panels and pitch sessions for attendees. There will also be mentor meet-up opportunities at the event slated for the ROAM Perimeter Center in Atlanta.
Entertainment in DeKalb County has made a near $2 billion economic impact, according to studies. The Commission's executive director Shelbia Jackson said there are many jobs outside of on-air performers, ranging from production work to accounting. She told FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell she wants people to consider pursuing a variety of roles.
"If you sit at the end of a movie and watch the credits roll, there are thousands of jobs on these movies," Jackson said.
Niki Williams attended the event last year. She said she has enjoyed working on a variety of movie projects since.
"A lot of information will be shared...just come out and gain all the information and network, network, network," Williams said."Your next gig could be right around the corner."
