An apparent software glitch forced Driver Service Centers across Georgia to close their doors Friday.

The State Department of Driver Services confirmed the computer outage on their website and it was unwelcome news during a busy Friday afternoon.

The statement on their website read:

“Due to the technical issues at the Customer Service Centers on Friday, some of the centers will be opening on Saturday and Monday to service customers. The centers will be open on Saturday, 10/6/2018 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon and Monday, 10/8/2018 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.”

Driver center employees spent Friday patiently turning away frustrated customers telling drivers about the issue, a reported computer glitch which was out of their control.

It was unwelcome news to drivers at this downtown office Friday, trying to beat the rush on the Friday before a holiday weekend.

State officials are directing users online for basic services for now.

Some DDS Centers will open Saturday and Monday for limited hours. For a complete list and to access online service visit dds.georgia.gov.
