One man was killed and several others were injured following a five-car wreck in unincorporated Decatur Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened near Wesley Chapel and South Hairston Roads around 2:45 p.m. Officers at the scene said a male driver, 23-year-old Jamon Freeman, was driving northbound, swerved his vehicle over the median and caused the multi-car accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a female passenger in the car with him suffered critical injuries.

Investigators said Freeman's vehicle sideswiped a silver Hyundai Sonata and then collided with a red Cadillac CTS, a U.S. Postal Service mail truck and a silver Honda Odyssey.

Police said two children from the Cadillac and a child from the Hyundai were taken to Egleston where they were treated and released. The postal carrier and occupants in the Honda were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
