Driver charged in hit-and-run that critically injured boy
COBB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Cobb County police have arrested a driver accused of hitting an 8-year-old boy and leaving the scene.
Officials say 59-year-old Lithia Springs resident Lazaro Rodriguez turned himself into to police Saturday night.
The crash happened inside a Cobb County neighborhood Monday afternoon on Olive Springs Road at Cerice Circle.
According to police, Rodriguez was driving a black 2007 BMW X3 when he hit 8-year-old Eesah Johnson, who was walking across the street to go play with a friend.
"Eesah looked both ways and the car came out of nowhere," Raquel Young, the boy's grandmother, told FOX 5.

Relatives of the boy say he is in a coma with head trauma and broken bones all over his body.
Rodriguez has been charged with felony hit and run.
The family has set up a fundraiser to help with Eesah's medical costs.
