Driver charged with crashing into crowd during snow-day drifting meetup in Morrow
MORROW, Ga. - A 22-year-old driver was arrested in Morrow on Friday after crashing into a crowd during a snow-day drifting meetup.
Three people were hurt, one of them severely, police said.

Jacob Anselmi, 22, of Pennsylvania, was taken into custody Friday night and charged with 11 violations, including street racing, hit-and-run with serious injuries, driving while suspended, and giving false statements to police.
Video footage of the crash, which was posted on YouTube, helped investigators identify and arrest Jacob Anselmi, they said.
He was booked into the Clayton County Jail.

The backstory:
The incident occurred when a Mustang plowed into a crowd of about 50 to 100 people gathered to watch snow and ice stunts behind the Thunder Tower West Harley-Davidson store.
Three people were injured, one severely, and an ambulance transported one of the victims to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Major Mark Wooddall of Morrow Police Department says amateur racers do not have the same skill as professionals.
"This is a life safety issue," said Major Mark Wooddall of Morrow Police. "People are young and immature, and they don’t have the knowledge and the skills that experienced racers have."

As for Anselmi, he says there will be consequences.
"He's being dealt with swiftly and surely by the Clayton County Judicial Circuit and Morrow Police Department," Wooddall added.
Morrow seeks to make car meetups safer
What's next:
The City of Morrow is considering sanctioning a space for meetups to prevent similar incidents in the future. The city hopes to create a safe environment for these types of gatherings.
