Driver allegedly ran from deadly car crash
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A driver is accused of bolting from the scene of a deadly head-on crash that also sent two people to the hospital.
Police say just before 9 p.m. Thursday night a white car and silver Honda slammed into each other in the 3600 block of Lavista Road, not too far from Northlake Mall.
Investigators told FOX 5 News one of the cars crossed the center line and hit the other.
Edward Harris, the 52-year-old driver of the car that was struck, died. His 52-year-old female passenger, Leigh Harris, is clinging to life, said to be in critical condition. Rebecca Duggan, a 25-year-old female passenger in the car police say crossed the center line, was also hospitalized. She is expected to survive.
Detectives say after causing the wreck, 24-year-old Benjamin Rollins took off running, leaving his injured passenger in the car. Officers caught him not long after.
Currently, there's no word as to what charges Rollins could face.
