Deputies: two in custody after triple shooting, chase and crash

Deputies in Cherokee County took two men into custody late Saturday night in connection with a triple shooting and chase that ended with a crash.

Investigators told FOX 5 Saturday at 8:42pm they responded to a call about a shooting on Canton Street in Canton. When deputies arrived on the scene they found three people with gunshot wounds to the face, knee and hip. The three victims were taken to local hospitals.

Witnesses on the scene told deputies Courtney Pitts & Craig Pitts pulled up in a Ford Mustang and started firing shots before fleeing from the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, a deputy who was patrolling the area spotted the Mustang on Lucky Street and tried to pull it over but said the driver would not stop. Deputies engaged in a chase on Highway 140 and Pea Ridge Road before the driver lost control and hit a telephone pole.

Courtney and Craig Pitts remain in custody at a local hospital, but have not been charged. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
