Deputies: Robbery suspect arrested after chase in Hall County

Deputies in Hall County have arrested a North Carolina man suspected of robbing a gas station.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called about an assault on Sherwin Parkway near Ga. State Route 13. While they on their way to the scene, the deputies got a call that the suspect had traveled to a QuikTrip at the intersection of Friendship Road and Atlanta Highway.

The suspect fled and sped toward Interstate 985 before hiding behind a business on B.U. Bowman Drive. Deputies surrounded the area, but they say the suspect wouldn't follow their orders to stop and tried to escape.

After a short chase, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Demontae Cortez Lassiter of Durham, North Carolina, crashed into a concrete median, disabling his car.

Officials then say Lassiter refused to leave his SUV and resisted arrest.

He's facing charges of battery, robbery, obstruction and fleeing to elude.

Deputies are still investigating the case.
