A wanted suspect was taken into custody in Banks County Monday afternoon after a massive multi-agency manhunt in northeast Georgia.

The Banks County Sheriff's Office said the man struck two Franklin County patrol cars while fleeing from deputies Sunday night all with a small child on board. Deputies said he crashed at the end of that pursuit, leaving the young child in the car and he ran from the scene.

Deputies were focusing their search in the area of Highway 164, Dodd Road, and Interstate 85 after deputies spotted him walking along the interstate Monday morning. He was once again able to slip into the woods.

Banks County deputies posted the suspect in the custody late Monday afternoon. His name has not yet been released.

Accesswdun.com reported the man initially was being pulled over in Franklin County for speeding, but also had felony warrants against him and is on probation.

That status of the child was not immediately clear.

Deputies credit the multiple Banks County agencies, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, and several state agencies with helping in the search.
