DeKalb firefighters injured in massive apartment fire
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Two firefighters were injured in a two-alarm apartment fire in DeKalb County on Monday evening.
It happened at the Birch Run apartments on Summerwood Drive in Clarkston. DeKalb County Fire and Emergency Services Spokesperson Capt. Eric Jackson said two of the firefighters were inside when one of the awnings collapsed. The pair was not trapped and were treated at the scene with very minor injuries.
Officials said at least ten units were damaged during the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Firefighters remained at the scene well into the evening hitting hot spots and investigating the fire.
The Red Cross said they helped 15 people among six different families displaced by the fire.
