DeKalb documents link rape suspect to two other assaults

A man arrested for kidnapping and sexual assault over the weekend may also be responsible for other crimes dating back ten years.

DeKalb County law enforcement arrested Dionte Mapp, 33, on Saturday.  He is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, rape and aggravated sodomy.

According to warrants obtained by FOX 5, Mapp abducted a woman as she left her apartment on March 21, 2015 "by grabbing the female in a headlock around her neck and threatening to shoot her."

He allegedly "dragged" the woman to an abandoned, wooded area off Old Rainbow Drive in unincorporated Decatur where he forced her to perform oral sex and then raped and strangled her.

Documents show authorities got a hit on Mapp in the national DNA database at the end of May.  That match also linked him to rape cases in 2006 and 2013.

Mapp remains in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
