DeKalb County Police search for killer after man gunned down

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - One man is dead following a shooting in a DeKalb County neighborhood. 

It happened Wednesday night in the Wendover neighborhood off Mercer and South Hairston Roads. DeKalb County Police say they were called out around 11:40 p.m. in response to a shots fired call. 

Once they arrived, officers said they found a man lying next to a mini van suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigators say they will release the man's identity once next of kin has been notified. Officers said the man did not live in the neighborhood, but lived nearby.

Investigators spent several hours combing through the front lawn of the house on the corner gathering evidence. Police say witnesses tell them they saw the possible gunman run from the scene.

Investigators are asking anyone with any information on the shooting to give them a call.
