Deadly hit and run accident in Peachtree City

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - Peachtree City Police want to find the driver involved in a deadly hit and run accident late Thursday night.

According to investigators, 17-year-old pedestrian Christopher Jordan Babilonia was hit and killed in the southbound lanes of Highway 74, just north of Paschal Road. The accident happened around 11:20 p.m. and the driver left the scene before police arrived.

Police said family members later discovered Babilonia's golf cart crashed into some trees off a nearby cart path.

"We believe he hit a retaining wall.  There's no indication that he struck any other golf cart or anything," said Peachtree City Police Lt. Odilia Bergh. "At this point, we know that we had a collision that occurred here and then somehow that young man ended up on the roadway and we believe he was struck again by a vehicle."

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Peachtree City Police.
