It's a story that's been shared on Facebook tens of thousands of times, and today, FOX 13 is hoping for a happy ending.

On Amarri Hernandez's Facebook page, she says that she was taking a flight from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport to Pittsburgh when she saw a man being told he was not allowed to take his package on the plane and he had to throw it away.

Hernandez says the man was visibly upset as he threw it in the garbage, so her boyfriend -- not knowing what it was -- picked it up and took it home.

It turns out, the package contained a snow globe with a photo of the man’s child -- who Hernandez says he adopted -- on one side, and then another of his parents on the other side.

Under the little girl’s picture was also a saying, "WE LOVE YOU KATIE, NANA AND PAPA 1/25/16.”

Now, Hernandez and her boyfriend want to reunite the snow globe with the man who had to leave it behind.

“We felt bad about the situation and want to find out who these people are so we can return their gift out of the kindness of our hearts,” Hernandez’s post continues. “We wouldn’t want this to happen to us so if everybody could please share this photo so we can find the owners of this beautiful family and give them back their precious gift”.

As of  Wednesday morning, seven days after it was posted on Facebook, the post had been shared more than 40,000 times.

The unknown family has yet to reach out, so as far as Hernandez is concerned, the sharing must continue!
