Community rallies around Cherokee Co. deputy and his family

A community has rallied around a Cherokee County sheriff's deputy and his wife as their newborn son fights for his life after being born with major health issues.

On July 27, Frank and Tabatha Jones headed to Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton for what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of their lives. The time had come for the arrival of their third son, Blake Owen Jones. However, Tabatha began bleeding heavily and her unborn baby was in distress so she was taken in for an emergency C-section.

Tabatha experienced placental abruption which was starving her baby for oxygen. Once Blake was born his heart wasn’t beating and he wasn’t breathing. The baby was resuscitated and flown to Northside Hospital. He has been on a ventilator in the NICU ever since.

According to the Jones family, Blake has opened his eyes, but his breathing isn’t strong enough to remove the breathing tube and take him off of the ventilator.

The heartbreak for the Jones family didn’t stop there…

Tabatha’s blood loss was severe and caused her kidneys to fail and she had to have multiple blood transfusions. She has been diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome and her blood pressure is dangerously high.

Since baby Blake's arrival, the community has shown a tremendous amount of support for the family.

On Tuesday, September 1, Subway stores in Canton, Waleska, Ball Ground, Jasper and Ellijay (owned by Singleton Food Services) are donating a portion of the proceeds to the Jones family. Make sure you mention "Baby Blake Jones" and part of the proceeds from your meal will go towards the family.

Last Monday, all Chick-fil-A restaurants in Cherokee County did the same thing. Customer after customer stopped by Chick-fil-A's across the county to show support. Some of Jones' fellow law enforcement officers were seen stopping by the Woodstock Chick-fil-A ton Highway 92.

If you can't make it to Subway on Tuesday, but you would like to donate towards the Jones family’s medical expenses, you can do that through their GoFundMe page: gofundme.com/ea43xp68
