Commissioner arrested on battery charges involving wife

ATLANTA (AP) — A Fulton County commissioner accused of grabbing and shoving his wife in a dispute over a phone at their suburban Atlanta home has been arrested.

Jail records show Marvin Arrington Jr. was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor battery-family violence charge after the incident occurred Sunday. Arrington is the son of former Fulton County Superior Court Judge Marvin Arrington Sr.

Local news media says a police report states Arrington became angry when his wife Kristen Reed Arrington threatened to call a woman in his phone. His wife told police they wrestled over the phone as he pushed her to the ground, dragged her along the floor and twisted her arm behind her back.

Arrington Jr. was released from the Fulton County Jail on a $2,000 bond. He is the District 5 commissioner of Fulton.
