A Reinhardt University student is recovering after being shot in the head during a road rage incident Saturday morning.

Neil Seiz, 23, was driving himself and a friend home at around 1 a.m., after attending Friday's Atlanta Braves game, when they came upon a Green pickup truck with a landscaping trailer on Interstate 575 at Chastain Road.

"As they were approaching the Bells Ferry exit the landscaping trailer pulled in front of them and brake checked them. The driver of the other vehicle, which was a Toyota Tacoma, obviously got upset because who likes to be brake checked and so in return he got in front of that vehicle and brake checked the vehicle back," Cobb County Police spokesman officer Sarah O'Hara told FOX 5 News.

The situation quickly escalated, taking a violent turn, as the vehicles turned onto Bells Ferry headed towards Seiz' house. He tried to make a U-turn.

"When they went to do a U-turn the pickup truck passed them and fired two shots into the front windshield, " said O'Hara.

One of the bullets struck Seiz, entering his cheekbone, and becoming lodged in his spine. Miraculously he didn't suffer brain damage. A passing motorist stopped to help, and drove Seiz to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Seiz was recovering at home as of Wednesday as the search continues for the shooter. Cobb County Police are asking anyone with information in the case to come forward.
