ATLANTA - Dangerous heat continues to grip much of Georgia with heat advisories in effect for much of Central and South Georgia.
Heat index values near 100 degrees are common this afternoon across North Georgia with reading near 105 across Middle Georgia. Be sure to stay hydrated and take lots of breaks in the shade if you have to be outdoors.
Sunday the heat won't be as bad but heat index values could still reach to near 100 degrees in areas just south of Atlanta. The rest of north Georgia will see heat index values around 95 with peak daytime temperatures in the low 90's. Along with all the heat a code orange smog alert is also in effect for Sunday afternoon and evening.
