Two men accused in an armed robbery at a Marietta pawnshop were taken in custody Wednesday.

Marietta police say Nicholas Swaby, 25, of Stone Mountain, and Michael Mackey, 45, of Atlanta, held up Cash America Pawn Shop on Cobb Parkway South around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say a Marietta police officer got to the scene within two minutes of the 911 call but the suspects had already driven off.

Cobb County police got involved in the search and just 20 minutes after the crime, officers spotted the suspect vehicle along Interstate 285 South near Paces Ferry Road, and began a chase.

Officers say the second suspect ran into some nearby woods.

Investigators said that is when Atlanta police officers and the Cobb County and Atlanta K-9 units joined in the search.

Authorities were able to have both men behind bars in just a few hours. Swaby was charged with attempted armed robbery weapon, aggravated assault, intent to rob, and false imprisonment detain. Mackey was charged with armed robbery weapon, aggravated assault with the intent to rob, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, possession of a firearm felon, and false imprisonment detain. Cobb County police said addition charges are pending relating to their pursuit.
