Cobb County officials make roadways safety a priority
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Cobb County officials are looking at ways to make roadways safer.
The move comes after a beloved crossing guard was killed outside a school.
Commissioner Lisa Cupid met with students Friday to discuss changes along Veterans Memorial Highway.
Cupid said the county made the changes a priority after crossing guard Edna Ume was struck by a speeding car and killed back in November.
Among the proposed changes, an increase in speed radars around school zones, heightened police presence along the highway, and road safety workshops for students.
