Coast Guard: 3 boaters are 10 days missing in Gulf of Mexico

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — The Coast Guard is searching for three people who went missing during a sailing trip in the Gulf of Mexico ten days ago.

Frank Fersch, 60, Joseph Cavaness, 74, and Sheryl Perkins, 60, left Fort Myers in a 46-foot sailboat for Dauphin Island, Alabama.

The search began Sunday after relatives said they hadn't they had not heard from the boaters since May 6.

Their boat is named Eikia, with a white hull and sail, blue canopy and wooden trim.
