Church vandals strike two Forsyth County churches

Forsyth County deputies are investigating who vandalized two Baptist churches off of Bethel Road, Sunday morning before church on June 14.

Bethel Baptist church members found the word "Hell" scribbled in a cross in a church sign, the phrase "go to Hell," and the letters in the welcome sign rearranged to spell "Satan."

Ridgeview Baptist Church, down the street, discovered three crosses turned upside down, along with a broken bird bath, broken window, and beer cans.

On Monday night, as FOX 5 News was there, Bethel Baptist members discovered more scratches and more scribbles of the word "Hell" in their welcome sign.

"[It costs] probably $1,500," said Bethel Baptist member Cynthia Bennett. "For a small congregation, that's a hard amount to come up with."

No word from deputies on the status of their investigation, but church leaders hope someone comes forward to identify the vandals.
