Christmas cleanup begins after severe weather in Georgia
Storm damaged roadway in LaGrange, Ga.
LAGRANGE, Ga. - Some families are cleaning up damage this Christmas after widespread flooding in LaGrange.
Heavy rains from the last couple of days have flooded out houses and yards. The flooding also washed out Alton Drive.
FOX spoke with residents, like Shannon Kemp, who live near the 10-foot gap on the street above Dixie Creek.
A section of Kemp's house was also underwater.
"It looked like a bunch of waves. And I just thought, “Is this really happening?" Kemp said.
The waters destroyed several items in her game room, including exercise equipment, an entertainment center and decorations.
But Kemp said she and her son kept calm in an effort to keep Christmas fun for their 12-year-old son.
A dispatcher told FOX 5 that crews conducted a couple of water rescues and urged evacuations early Friday morning.
