Child hurt in Cobb County house fire

COBB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A father and his son were severely burned in a house explosion Sunday night. 

It happened in the 200 block of Hasty Lane.

According to Cobb County police, the 6-year-old boy suffered burns to half of his body. 

Neighbors described the moment they saw the man and his son emerge from the flames. 

"The house fell in and you could see him running out," Nina Ballard told FOX 5. 

The child's mother wasn't home at the time of the explosion. 

No other injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are working to determine what caused the explosion. 

Officials said the back of the house collapsed.
