CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - A Cherokee County kindergarten teacher has been placed on leave after officials say she was arrested on charges of burglary and theft.
Officials say Sarah Gorman teaches kindergarten at Sixes Elementary School in Canton.
What we know:
In an email to families, a spokesperson for Cherokee County Schools said that they learned that Gorman had been arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on burglary and theft charges.
The spokesperson said that charges were not connected to the school system.
Gorman was placed on administrative leave while school officials wait for the outcome of the legal investigation.
"Maintaining the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority and inappropriate conduct will never be tolerated," the spokesperson wrote in the letter.
