Cartersville Brewery Helping with Wildfires

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - Wildfires in Washington state have left behind a path of destruction. The fires have burned more than 900 square miles, and destroyed more than 200 homes.

The Anheuser-Busch brewery in Cartersville is doing what it can to help those firefighters battling the raging flames. They're sending more than 50,000 cans of water.

Robert Haas is the general manager at the brewery, which is responsible for producing the cans of water shipped all over the country during disaster relief.

Employees told NewsRadio 106.7's Nathalie Pozo it feels great to be able to contribute during times of need.

Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch has donated more than 73 million cans of emergency drinking water.

Bobby Putz has worked for the company for 22 years. He said some of those cans directly impacted him when they were shipped to his hometown in New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy.

Once the emergency drinking water arrives this week, the company will work with the American Red Cross and local authorities to distribute the water.
