Carrollton Shooting Sends Two People to Hospital
CARROLLTON, Ga. - Carrollton Police said they are investigating a double shooting at the River’s Edge Apartment complex near the University of West Georgia.
It happened on Brumbelow Road around 8:30 Thursday night. Police said six people were inside a unit in the A building, when they answered a knock on the door. Two men came inside, according to police. The people in the apartment told investigators they didn't know the men and that set off a fight. Detectives said someone pulled a gun and shots were fired.
Both of the visitors were hit multiple times, one of them by at least 5 bullets. Police found the men, who are in the mid 20's, in a grassy area. Helicopters transported them to Grady and Atlanta Medical Center. Their conditions aren't known, but police said they were alert when leaving the scene.
Investigators said University of West Georgia students may have been present, but said the men who were injured do not attend UWG. The names of the victims and circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately released.
At this time, police aren't sure of a motive as to why the men wanted to get inside the apartment.
