Carjacking suspects crash while allegedly fleeing robbery scene

Police are investigating a car accident early Wednesday morning involving carjacking suspects, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

The suspects were allegedly fleeing a previous robbery scene when they hit another vehicle, according to police. One person is in custody, and police are searching for another. Tracking dogs were deployed while searching for the second person, but they were not successful.

According to police, a female victim said four or five men carjacked her vehicle as she was unloading groceries on Katherwood Drive. There are no injuries reported at this point.

Atlanta police found the car crashed on I-75/85 at University Avenue. Two pistols were recovered from the vehicle, according to police.

After the crash, five black males fled on foot, and one was apprehended after a short foot chase, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

The man arrested was charged with armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
