Cagle, Kemp square off in GPB runoff debate
ATLANTA - The two Republicans who want the GOP nomination for Georgia Governor squared off Thursday night in a debate. With less than two weeks before the runoff vote July 24.
Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and Secretary of State Brian Kemp are each running as “Trump Conservatives,” emphasizing their fidelity to the second amendment, immigration enforcement, and lower taxes.
In the debate at Georgia Public Broadcasting, things got testy when the candidates addressed the secret recording of Cagle admitting to supporting a private school tax credit that he called bad policy because it was good for him politically.
Cagle pointed out that most Republicans supported the bill in question and tried to turn the tables on Kemp.
FOX 5’s Russ Spencer sat down with both candidates for a half-hour interview. Those interviews can be found at FOX5Atlanta.com/YouDecide.
