Busy Holiday Weekend

It’s Labor Day weekend and huge crowds are packing into the city of Atlanta.

More than half a million people are expected to take part in events in the Downtown and Midtown areas, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Large-scale events include the SCI-FI/fantasy convention Dragon Con at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome and Black Gay Pride events.

APD told FOX 5 it will have extra officers on duty, including mounted patrols and police on bicycles.

MARTA said rail services will run on 12-minute schedules to handle the increase volume of riders.
