Buckhead crime spikes
ATLANTA - An Atlanta City Council member said she is being flooded with complaints following a rash of violent crime in Buckhead.
Two high-profile carjackings grabbed the headlines last week, but FOX 5 News has learned violent crime spiked in Zone 2 for that week. Police commanders said there were 11 robberies in one week, which is unusual.
The string of crimes included the armed robbery of a North Atlanta High School student. The rising junior said the robbers held two guns on him and threatened to kill his mom.
“He told me don't call the cops or I will kill your mom, I will shoot her in the head. I know where she lives," the teen said.
The 16-year-old said he wants to be a police officer when he gets older to arrest people like the ones who robbed him.
Council member Felicia Moore said she has been flooded with complaints from residents.
“It is all hands on deck right now. It has been unbelievable let in the last two weeks. I cannot keep up with the number of complaints I am receiving,” Moore said.
