Bishop T.D. Jakes, Black Enterprise hold conference in Atlanta

World-renowned pastor and media mogul Bishop T.D. Jakes held an inaugural financial literacy and personal growth series in Atlanta Saturday.

The faith leader, along with Black Enterprise magazine, held the SOAR Empowerment Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center. Hundreds of people from across the country attended the day-long event which focused on showing participants how to maximize their earning power, improve overall health and wellness and create multi-generational wealth.

Jakes sat down with FOX 5 Anchor/Reporter Marissa Mitchell during the event, which also included speeches by best-selling author and Clark Atlanta University Professor Dr. Dennis Kimbro and author and career coach Charreah Jackson.

Jakes said faith and motivation are critical factors in reaching goals.

“I don’t think you can achieve any dream...without a certain degree of faith,” Jakes told Mitchell. “That faith means there is some opposition you will have to overcome and you have to have fortitude to withstand the opposition that stands against whatever the dream or goal is that you are going after in life.”

Jakes, the Dallas-based preacher, also said he will host his annual Woman, Thou Art Loosed Conference in 2020, and Atlanta is a top choice for host city.
