The government has fined the big box retailer millions of dollars.

A major retailer has been fined millions of dollars for selling recalled products.  According to investigators, IT went on for years.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that Best Buy "knowingly sold and distributed 16 different recalled products from 2010 through 2015."

         BEST BUY BY THE NUMBERS

  • $3.8m fine
  • 600 recalled items
  • 400 Canon cameras sold

Best Buy, according to the CPSC, continued to sell recalled items even after it says it had put measures into place to prevent sales of recalled products.  We're talking about a whole range of things from cameras, as I said, to notebook computers, gas dryers, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, surge protectors and more.

Now in the settlement Best Buy does not admit guilt but has put into place measures to prevent something like this from  happening again.

Please see the CPSC's press release for full details, including what to do if you have bought one of these recalled items from Best Buy.
