Bank robbers lead multiple agencies on 2-county chase
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Two suspected bank robbers are behind bars following a chase across two counties and the dramatic aftermath was posted to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Facebook page.
It started in Conyers Thursday night. Police said two masked men robbed the Wells Fargo on Dogwood Drive, ordering customers and employees to the ground at gunpoint. Shortly after, investigators said the men grabbed cash from the registers and took off.
An officer witnessed the getaway car and chased after them. That pursuit went on for miles until the two men were ultimately cornered and captured in Gwinnett County on Smoke Creek Parkway.
The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, one of the law enforcement agencies who helped in the pursuit, posted a couple photos they snapped of the scene just after the chase ended. One of the photos show the getaway car stuffed with loose cash.
The two men are charged with robbery and kidnapping. Their names have not yet been released.
The case will likely be turned over to the FBI.
