Authorities: Body found in Lowndes County

HAYNEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama authorities are investigating a death after a body was found alongside a road in Lowndes County.

Sheriff's investigator Jeremy Marvin says the body had been set on fire and dumped where it was found.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Alabama State Bureau of Investigation tells the Selma Times-Journal (http://bit.ly/2qtH1DT ) the victim was identified as 36-year-old Shmeko Shontae Sturdivant, of Selma. Marvin says the body was discovered about 4:30 p.m. Monday by a passerby who contacted the sheriff's office.
