Atlanta's airport is seeing longer security lines
ATLANTA - Atlanta's airport is often jammed at the security checkpoint. There are times, like Thursday, when more than 1,000 passengers are waiting in line.
The Transportation Security Administration directors cite two issues for the delays of up to an hour: people are traveling more and the agency has 5,000 fewer screeners than 2012 due to budget cuts.
The explanation doesn't solve Atlanta’s problem, Mayor Reed said. City officials were recently promised more personnel will be shifted to Atlanta, including using overtime.
Reed said if something is not done, and quickly, he will seek to replace the TSA with a private company to do the checks.
