Atlanta woman standing at bus stop hit, killed by car

ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say an Atlanta woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while standing at a MARTA bus stop.

Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said in a statement that a driver swerved onto the sidewalk in southwest Atlanta on Thursday morning, striking 58-year-old Annie Cole before crashing into a tree and an apartment complex.

Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones says the unidentified driver was transported to a hospital. It is unclear what caused the driver to crash.

The collision occurred at the same intersection as where a 21-year-old pregnant woman was hit and killed by a pickup truck in May.
