Atlanta Police: 11-year-old girl accidentally shot in hand

ATLANTA - Police said a young girl accidentally shot herself in southwest Atlanta overnight.

It happened at a home on Stanton Road. The aunt who was babysitting the 11-year-old girl said she sent her niece to the car to get a cell phone charger, and that's when the child saw a gun. 

Police said the girl picked up the weapon, and it went off. 

The girl was shot in the hand. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, and she's expected to be okay.
