Atlanta Officials Attempt to Reassure Citizens Regarding Terror Threat

ATLANTA - Some of the images at Hartsfield Jackson airport resemble what travelers see going through international hubs.

Police stand ready clutching military style weapons. It is part of the local response to the widespread intense violence that took place in Paris over the weekend. 

Mayor Reed, his public safety team and the airport general manager called out reporters in an effort to tell citizens three things. 

First, there is no confirmed threat law enforcement is aware of from the terror group. 

Second, that security is being beefed up so travelers should allow some extra time than normal to get through the gate. 

And lastly, they restated the request they have made in other situations. Law enforcement would like the public's assistance should they see anything at all that looks suspicious. Call the police, they say, and let an officer check it out.
