Atlanta officer donates kidney to save his wife
ATLANTA - An Atlanta police officer donated a kidney to help save the life of his seriously ill wife. Atlanta officer Shaun Dziuban and his wife had surgery just 24 hours apart.
Both are out of the hospital now. Nikki Dziuban says she feels rejuvenated with a great deal more energy thanks to the new kidney. She faces an extended recovery. She is on a maintenance program that includes taking a couple of dozen pills daily.
The officer is one the mend as well. It will be about eight weeks before he can return to the beat and chase bad guys.
He is getting a big assist from fellow officers who are donating their time so he won't have to try to rush back to the job.
Anyone who wishes to help cover the cost of the transplant can do so by donating through PayPal. You can get to the accounty by clicking this link.
