Atlanta mayor announces new plans for development of city's Southside

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Atlanta's mayor announces new opportunities for the city's small businesses and names the city's first Southside Community Manager.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms joined the group Invest Atlanta in a news conference on Cascade Road Wednesday.

She detailed a new program, that will provide improvement grants to businesses in Mechanicsville, Pittsburgh, and Peoplestown.

Mayor Bottoms also gave an update on a big renovation project in the Southside.

As for the Southside's new community manager, that will be Erica Smith.

Smith is a resident of the Southside and has worked with Invest Atlanta over the last year.

According to the mayor, Smith's sole job will be to focus on the development of the Southside.
