Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced energy efficiency plans for the city on Monday.

Mayor Bottoms made the announcement Monday afternoon at the C.T. Martin Recreation Center in the Adamsville neighborhood.

The mayor's office said the recreation center will soon become the first city building to install solar panels.

Mayor Bottoms said the conversation around sustainability and energy efficiency is crucial for every part of Atlanta and Monday's announcement represents a step in that direction.

Workers expect to complete the solar panel installation at rec center by the end of the month.
