Arrest Made in UGA Student Attack

ATHENS, Ga. - Athens-Clarke County Police have arrested a man in connection with an attack on a female UGA student who was walking on a popular trail. 

It happened on the greenway near Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway and College Avenue. Fortunately, police said the woman was able to fight off her attacker and suffered only minor injuries.

Police arrested 43-year-old Pedro Alvarado and charged him with aggravated assault and battery. Investigators said Alvarado had left behind a couple of clothing items including a t-shirt and a ball cap.
