Arrest made in attempted rape of Georgia Tech student

Police in Atlanta said a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection an early morning attempted rape at an off-campus apartment belonging to a Georgia Tech student.

Joshua Manns was booked into the Fulton County Jail on charges of criminal attempt to commit rape and burglary.

Atlanta Police said they responded to an apartment in the 800 block of Spring Street around 1:20 a.m. Friday. A student said a man followed her back to her apartment, got on the elevator with her, followed her back to her floor, and then forced his way into her apartment.

The victim told police the suspect forcibly began removing her clothes, but he ran away when her roommate and her boyfriend came to her aid after hearing her scream.

EMS was called to the scene, but the victim was not injured.

Investigators are crediting a sold description of the suspect with the quick arrest. The Georgia Tech Police worked with the Atlanta Police Department on the case.
