Arrest in attack on 73-year-old McDonough woman

Police said they have made an arrest in the attack of a 73-year old McDonough woman.

It happened at the Grier Manor apartments, an affordable senior housing facility, on Old Griffin Road in McDonough Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. An investigator told FOX 5 a 73-year old woman received defensive wounds while she tried to fight off an attacker. Police said she suffered terrible stab wounds and was beaten. She was in stable condition as of Thursday.

Investigators said the woman had been outside talking with a neighbor and went back to her apartment. It was there that the man confronted her. Police described the crime scene as very bloody.

McDonough Police said she was able to give police some information about the man who attacked and robbed her. Investigators also said there are some security cameras there. Some work, some don’t. They were looking at those that work and hoped to get a better insight into what happened and who might be responsible.

Police said they are not releasing the name of the man arrested in the crime.
