'Armed and dangerous' man now in custody in W. Athens
ATHENS, Ga. - According to Deputy Rodriguez with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the suspect, Benjamin Sittig, 29, is being charged with aggravated assault.
The father of Sittig said he had been off of his medication for three weeks and was starting to act paranoid. The father was recently looking for a gun that he owns and it was missing. Once he discovered Benjamin had the gun, there was an altercation, and a threat was made.
Sittig's father feared for his life and then called police. Benjamin fled on foot into the woods. Sittig was arrested and is now in the Clark County Jail.
Police say there were no injuries.
